Dr. Mitchell Karmel

Dr. Karmel is triple board certified with extensive experience in vascular imaging. He specializes in vein ablations, using radiofrequency, and ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy to treat spider and varicose veins.

TRAINING & RECOGNITION
Dr. Karmel is triple Board certified with Board certifications in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology. Dr. Karmel received his undergraduate degree from Harpur College in Binghamton, New York with honors. He attended the Buffalo School of Medicine on scholarship and graduated at the top of his class with honors. He completed a Medical Internship and Radiology residency at Cornell Cooperating Hospitals, where he served as chief resident in his final year. Dr. Karmel completed a two-year fellowship in Cardiovascular/Interventional Radiology at Harvard Medical School rotating though Brigham and Women’s Hospital, The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and Boston Children’s Hospital. Recently he was Director of Interventional Radiology at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York where he helped develop a robust Interventional Radiology Service. He has vast experience in vascular procedures and is coauthor on several peer reviewed papers and presentations. He has received multiple awards as Physician of the year from Patients and Nursing.
